MORALES SELECTED AS FINALIST FOR 2011 INDIANA AUTHORS AWARD.

 

Aaron Michael Morales was recently named a finalist for the 2011 Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award in the Emerging Author Category. Aaron Michael Morales was recently named a "Top Ten New Latino Author to Watch (and Read) by LatinoStories.com. Drowning Tucson was also chosen as a Top Five Novel for 2010 by Latina Magazine, and also named the "Best Debut of 2010" by the Latinidad List.

DROWNING TUCSON CHOSEN BY POETS & WRITERS AS ONE OF THE TOP FIVE FICTION DEBUTS FOR 2010.

 

Morales's debut novel, Drowning Tucson, was recently featured in Poets & Writers "First Fiction Annual" review of debut fiction writers. The magazine chose Drowning Tucson--and the four other books--as the best fiction debuts for 2010. In the accompanying story, Poets & Writers states that the five authors were chosen for being "innovators who push the boundaries of their genres." Read the entire story and the feature on Drowning Tucson here

NEW SHORT STORIES RELEASED: 


Morales's latest story--titled "Suicide Fish"--has been released in MAKE Magazine's issue #10, which is now available through their website.

 

Morales has another newly released story--titled "Cutting Out the Middleman"--released in Quercus Review's 10th Anniversary issue, as part of the "Without Camels: a Caravan of Latino Writing" special feature of the issue.

Morales shortlisted in Pushcart Prize Stories XXXII, Nominated for Pushcart XXXIII


Morales’s short story, “Torchy’s,” first published in Another Chicago Magazine,  was nominated for a 2008 Pushcart Prize. It was given an honorable mention and listed in the “Special Mention” section volume XXXII.


Morales’s short stories, “Flashflood” and "The Lamentable Inauguration of the Honorary Alejandro Santiago Freeway" were nominated for a 2009 Pushcart Prize
